Bar Chatter

While at a bar with husband and a friend, we had a conversation with a fellow bargoer. The conversation (littered with microaggressions) turned political, to which this person asked us our nationality. We all replied that we were American, although our friend said he was Chinese (probably referring to his ethnicity, not his nationality), so the guy stated that he assumed our friend's allegiance was to China, which made no sense, so we informed him otherwise. The conversation escalated, and essentially we were told several things: 1. "Welcome to America! Welcome to MY country!" (despite being in the city that I was born in, and all of us born in the US) 2. "Learn to assimilate!"

"F**king China B*tch"

A middle-aged man followed me for two blocks, calling me a "f**king China B*tch." It was dark, and we were alone on the street. When I turned around to look at him, he spat at my feet. Eventually, I went into a grocery store to get away.

Racist Graffiti in Oakdale

Remarks in NJ Walmart

I was walking behind an older (mid-60s) white couple who was walking quite slowly and taking up the whole aisle when they stopped and moved to the side. As I passed them, the woman said in a loud obnoxious voice, "she could at least have said thank you!"

I stopped and turned around (which caught them by surprise) and said, "I didn't ask you for anything!" The man then told me to "go back to Japan" to which I angrily shouted "I'm from here, you idiot!"

White Power in Koreatown

Incident occurred on February 1:

An 83-year-old Korean woman was assaulted in Koreatown on Wednesday afternoon in an attack that became the subject of a viral social media post. The assailant was reported to have yelled “white power” before fleeing. The victim suffered a one-inch cut to her left cheek as a result of the fall and had pain in her knee. A witness told officers that the suspect punched the elderly woman in the back of her head, causing her to fall to the ground. Two men chased the alleged assailant. The woman, who seemed “out of it,” repeatedly yelled “power is power” and the N-word.

Lucky Supermarket

Incident occurred on January 23

I was shopping with my 70+ year old mother and my three year old son. We had just finished shopping at Lucky Supermarket and was about to get into our cars. Right then, an older man riding a bike passed by us and shouted at us, "Go back to China, go back to China."

Colorado Home Vandalized With Eggs

Incident Reported on February 6:

The vandalism of a Peyton home Sunday is now being investigated as a hate crime.

The FBI, which took over the case, is looking for the people responsible for smearing dog feces across a couple's garage, peppering the home with about 40 eggs, and posting about 50 hate messages and racial slurs. No suspects have yet been identified, FBI Detective Greg Young said Monday.

They're everywhere

A black lady and her 10-ish year old daughter were saying that the city has been taken over by Asians and that they need to take it back. As I was walking passed by them, the lady said, "Just look at him [me]! There are so many of them! They are everywhere!"

Spat on the Face

Incident occurred January 10:

When I was walking home and a Caucasion male in a full winter outfit and a hat charged towards me and spat on my face multiple times. He called me a gook and he kept repeating, "I live here!"

Racial slurs while fixing a car

This incident occurred on January 23:

On Monday, my father-in-law was fixing his car headlights in our condo community parking lot. He was approached by one of the neighbors who began yelling and cursing, accusing him of leaving trash on “his” lawn (mind you it is a community greenbelt). My wife’s father kindly advised that there was nothing littered, but the neighbor continued spewing racial slurs and yell, “go back to your country you f*cking dog!” Apparently, this fine gentleman even took his time to find my in-law's Facebook profile and has been sending him aggressive messages. It’s a sad to see that a simple argument (that, to my knowledge, was unwarranted) comes to this. He has harassed me at work via phone and email with similar racial slurs.

Zipperhead

Incident occurred on January 30:
